El Bobo de Wall Street: When Predatory Capitalism Meets Incompetence

As Musk adopts his “chainsaw” economic model, Argentine president Javier Milei tries to contain the fallout of his $Libra crypto scandal

As CPAC wound down over the weekend, there were two major stories that came from it:

  1. Steve Bannon did a Nazi salute (er, I mean a Roman salute, or maybe just an “awkward gesture”..?)
  2. Elon Musk (Nazi status already old news) took the stage dressed like an idiot, called himself the Dogefather, made an appeal to “legalize comedy” in one of the cringiest monologues in human history, and wielded a chainsaw while dancing around on stage with Argentine president Javier Milei, whose budget-cutting, privatization, and deregulation campaigns are evidently Musk and Trump’s new ideal model for government.

While it was all smiles, cheers, and moronic hopping around for both of them, the ridiculous spectacle was only a momentary respite from the self-made shitstorm whirling full-force around president Javier Milei, and not only because his free-market extremism has dramatically worsened Argentina’s poverty crisis, but most recently and most pressingly because he played the hook for an enormous crypto scam, and now the courts are investigating…
