I’d have to re-read what I wrote to see if I put that new branches are created or not, but the drawn diagrams toward the end are my attempt at indicating what you are saying— that the branches already exist, the detector(s) is simply causing a divergence between branches that already exist.


To your second point, I don’t think branches need to resemble each other— my point is that interference would be greater between branches which are more closely aligned or better resemble each other, but a 4d space can accommodate an infinite number of 3D spaces which have no relation to each other whatsoever.

Our perception being a product of what branch we find ourself in (/ consistency of an individual as an illusion) is something I address in the article.

I agree with the issue you raise about the “branch” terminology. In my last paragraph of the article I try to raise the same issue about whether a local quantum effect has universal implications.
